Not dead. Just editing.
Which in some cultures is the same thing as being dead.
Or at least it should be.
If I had my own culture, my little euphemism for time spent editing would be, “a series of small deaths.”
As in “Vanessa has not been blogging as she has been undergoing a series of small deaths with Zion.”
However, as we’ve all been told, whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
Or, in my own greatly preferred version (courtesy of Marilyn Manson): Whatever doesn’t kill you is gonna leave a scar.

Me when things were warm and sunny, which was not - by any stretch of the imagination - in the last few weeks.
Either way.
Presuming I survive and come up for air soon, I’ll be back before you know it.
As always.
Pinky swear.
Tags: Blogging takes time and at the moment I haven't had much time., editing, editing a novel, editing is actually going much better than with The Food Machine which was more a total rewrite than editing, I guess I should be grateful it wasn't later than noon, I haven't been lazy so much as I've been unfocused in my use of time, I'm at my friend's place in Philadelphia, I'm behind on getting Part One of Zion out to readers and need to go finish that now., I'm eating Raisin Bran, I've been out of it for so long I didn't even get a chance to make fun of Bret Michaels. Although now that he's not a vegetable {or no more so than before} I suppose that makes it less inappropriate/m, Life, me me me, My first thought upon waking this morning was "Please don't be noon. Please don't be noon." And yes - of course - it was noon., The blog is not the only thing hanging over my head right now, Writing, Writing a Novel

HAHAHA – There’s you editing your second work, and I have got round to choosing a page size and font size, as used in most novals these days. Only……It’s blank !!! LOL Not a word. But it will come eventually I guess, and when it does, I’m all set up and ready to capture it……
I like opening sentences. There’s the irrepressible hope that you’re embarking on something that will leave an indelible mark on the world of literature. Then you continue writing and realize that’s not going to happen…
However, in the spirit of optimism, I offer some generic openers all based on what I can see while sitting here wrapped in a blanket, freezing my ass off on my dad’s couch.
At least it wasn’t snowing.
She had planned to edit, but her father’s incessant chattering put a quick stop to that.
The grandfather clock was chiming, but it was already five past the hour.
She heard a man’s voice in the other room, but quickly realized it was speaking to a cat.
Anything useful???
Well, there’s a whole plethora of Novels that could come from those opening lines for sure. The first one is obviously from a Novel leading up to an Earthquake :
” At least it wan’t snowing. You could actually feel the eathquake yawning, starting to wake up. The ground was trembling, the owner of the china shop next door would be have kittens, but at least it wan’t snowing. ”
The second has probably already been written. I’m sure I recognise it. The book was called something like 7th Book Of The Wolf Child, or something like that.
The next is obviously meant for an episode of Dr Who, and the last is a perfect opener for The Cat In The Hat Rides Again :
” She heard a man’s voice in the other room,
But quickly realised it was speaking to a cat,
The cat was sweeping with a broom,
Now how do you fancy that ?.
Well fancy that, a cat, with hat,
Said a very bemused miss Wolf,
The cat with hat and Wolf did chat,
As they sat upon the roof….. ”
You’d have thought I could at least write an opener wouldn’t you ??….
Ha ha!
I love the Cat in the Hat Rides Again.
Too bad the Suess heirs are such jerks about copyrights…
